The Story of Climate Data

The Campground welcomed Climate Scientist Thomas Peterson on June 19 in the Epworth Dining Hall for an insightful discussion on Climate Data which deals with the science and politics of climate data and how to make sense of what we hear through the media.

Citizens Climate Lobby and other northwest side residents were in attendance with plenty of questions for Thomas. His compelling presentation clearly stated the just the facts from data sources around the world, making it clear that climate change is real.

Did you know? Thomas spent many childhood summers in the 1950's-1960's at our Historic Campground.

Thomas Peterson was the President of the World Meteorological Organization’s Commission for Climatology for 8 years ending in April 2018. He is an author or co-author of over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers including the Nobel Peace Prize winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Fourth Assessment Report. Foreign Policy Magazine named him one of the top 100 Leading Global Thinkers of 2013 for his work on Explaining Extreme Events from a Climate Perspective. In 2015 Dr. Peterson retired from his position as Principal Scientist at NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information.
